Seeing the world's favorite classic video game characters come to life sounds like it should make for an amazing movie, but Pixels' latest trailer is basically an enumerated list of how it can all go wrong. It's strange, because the film even has a decent core conceit: that the world's best retro game nerds have to come together and use their skills to save the planet. The whole scrappy underdog, loser-to-hero thing could be good if it weren't just a vehicle for awful humor. It ends up peppered with lame conceits and a lot of people yelling at each other. Sure, this is just a trailer, but let's just say it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Pixels will be out July 24th.
