Earlier yesterday, the second full day of SXSW music, I was talking to a friend in a bar about how there aren’t really any indie rock villains — and how, as a writer, that can make the genre less interesting to write about. I love writing and reading about EDM even if it isn’t what I’m listening to all the time, because so many of those dudes (yes, mostly dudes) are like real-life Bond villains, or drifting astronauts, cut free from the bonds of reality by their stupidly huge paychecks.
